Our Content Principles: How Is the Information on This Site Prepared?

Purpose
This site is prepared for patients and their families. The aim is to provide accurate, up-to-date and referenced information on COPD and interventional bronchoscopy. The content is for information purposes. It does not replace a medical examination, diagnosis or treatment.
Who writes and who reviews?
All medical content is written or reviewed by Prof. Dr. Yalçın Karakoca. He is a pulmonologist. Each page shows the author, the date of medical review and the date of the last update. The editorial and technical support team cannot change medical claims.
Sourcing standards
- Medical claims are based on publications in peer-reviewed journals (with DOI/PubMed links). International guidelines (GOLD) and official records (patents, licences) are also used as sources.
- Alongside our own studies, independent reviews that discuss the method are also included.
- Study results are presented together with their source, accurately and in plain language that patients can understand.
Updates
Treatment pages are reviewed at least once every 6 months. If a new publication or guideline appears, they are reviewed immediately. Changes are made visible through the date at the bottom of the page. A change note is added for significant corrections.
Advertising and patient review policy
- The site contains no advertising, sponsored content or promotion of medicines or devices. The conflict of interest relating to the devices we have developed ourselves is clearly declared.
- Patient reviews, thank-you messages, before-and-after images and “success rate” advertising are not used. This rule comes from the Regulation on Promotion and Information Activities in Health Services (29 July 2023).
- Prices, discounts and promotional offers are not published. The fee is communicated to each person individually after the consultation.
- Images of patients are not used in videos; the date is stated on images.
Declaration of interests
Prof. Dr. Yalçın Karakoca is the inventor of the Karakoca Resector Balloon and the Karakoca Valve. He holds the patent for the balloon and is the patent applicant for the valve. This relationship is stated on all relevant pages.
Reporting errors
If you see an error or out-of-date information, please write to info@yalcinkarakoca.com. Your report will be reviewed within 10 working days.

Is it suitable for you?
Book an appointment and bring your breathing test and chest CT scan reports. We decide together at the consultation. If you are coming from outside Istanbul, an online preliminary consultation can be held first.
Please bring: your breathing test, your chest CT scan report and images (CD/USB), your list of medicines and, if you have one, your blood gas test result.
